Introducing Idaho’s Charter Effort to House & Senate Ed Committees
It’s been 25 years since Idaho’s first charter schools opened their doors, yet misunderstandings of this model for public education still exist.
This morning, our CEO, Terry Ryan, had the opportunity to share the history and impact of Idaho’s public charter schools on students and families with both the Senate and House Education Committees.
Lawmakers also heard from ExcelinEd researcher, Matthew Joseph, who presented on the public school facility gap, which is explored fully in Building for Success in Idaho. The ExcelinEd research team, led by Matthew Joseph, built on the facility financing work and methodology they created for Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee to produce the policy brief and an interactive tool that demonstrates how much the facility needs of charter schools in Idaho are currently being met and how they can be better met by the choices and decisions at the statehouse.
